Now one of the things I really encourage people to do is to go through the Romans Road to Salvation. The Romans Road to Salvation is a coined phrase, it is a phrase that is called the road through the book of Roman that lead people to Christ. It is a real simplistic way. This is a real key way that covers every single point that is necessary for them to come to Christ. We present the gospel we do not drag them to Christ. Lead them to Christ.
Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned, we all fall short of God's glorious standard.
The first question I ask is Have you sinned. If they say never then I don't go on, because it is a mute point. When they don't believe they have ever sinned, therefore there is no further that I can go with them, if you can't come to the same meeting.
The second question I ask Do you hold the bible in the same regard that I would. Would you believe that God inspired the word of the bible? If they say absolutely not, I think it's a bunch of nonsense I say fair enough. I don't drag them to Christ. I lead them to Christ. So honestly if they don't have even the slightest desire to know God then I don't push them. I just then love them because that love will show them something different than anyone else has shown them. I just become friends with them and work with them and not go any further. I've done that with many people and it is years later that they come to me and say I need some help. I say Are you talking to me. They say I need your opinion and I say my opinion doesn't count, I have to tell you, the only opinion that matters is God's word and if you are prepared to receive God's word then I can talk to you. The person says okay I'm prepared to receive God's word cause I really need some help. Then the door is open. But if I had pushed God's word on him, what do you think would have happened. He would have pushed back and said He is like all the rest, but it came a point two years later he comes to me and says I need help because he knows I'm not going to lie to him and I am not going to do something that is going to comprise his beliefs.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. That is what the word says Everyone. I believe it, They don't necessarily have to believe that I believe it, the word says it, it is true. If they don't believe it, it is okay I will continue to love you until you get to the point where you realize that sin abounds in your life. Most people who are like that are obstinate, they want to sit in their room because they have had so many religious people come up to them and say you need to repent and you know what the truth is they just need to believe they don't need to repent, they need to believe. Repenting is for the saved not for the unbeliever.
The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is internal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The wages of sin is death. Once you recognize that you're a sinner. Once you establish that they know they are a sinner. You can establish that sin in their life, that sin in unbelief, that sin, the wages of that is death. then you can say that there is a gift of God through Jesus Christ.
For God commanded his love toward us while we were sinners Christ died for us.
I love that verse because it establishes that while we were still yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 John 5:16 If anyone sees his brother [believer] committing a sin that does not [lead to] death (the extinguishing of life), he will pray and [God] will give him life [yes, He will grant life to all those whose sin is not one leading to death]. There is a sin [that leads] to death; I do not say that one should pray for that.
Pray for him!
It doesn't say condemn them, it says pray for them, it says love them, it says work with them!
Because when we know that someone is sinning a sin, guess what, it tells us how to pray for them. I like smart found prayers. Smart found prayers are knowing what is going on in somebody's life and then saying "I am praying against that, I am working with you, I am praying for you. Because God has revealed this for me through you. This is what we need to pray for, we can pray about that, whatever it is. If I come up to you and say "what is the matter with you, you are a Christian now, you got to stop doing that. What have I just done? I have condemned them and I have judged them. God be the judge. Jesus says I did not come to condemn the world I came to save it. Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus! Who wants to be like Jesus, who wants to be like the Pharisees. Because if you are like the Pharisees you will condemn, you will say "What's the matter with you, Why are you doing what you do, You have to stop this, If you want to be right with God you have to do this, you have to do that, rules and regulations. You can respond Hold on ...stop.... because you are condemning me. You do not have to take it. Wage of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.
Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
I read a study on people who read from King James Bible is at a grade 12 level reading and some other contemporary bibles are at grade 3 to grade 6 levels. In one of my bible study groups I got asked where are all the Bible stories. The bible stories are throughout the bible starting at the beginning in Genesis, read the bible and read the stories.
Whenever I have opened up an evangelist meeting that lead people to Christ and they confess with their mouth Lord Jesus. I tell them go tell everyone you know that you just received Jesus. Go tell all your family and friends. Why do I do that, because it is a continual confessing of your mouth and they get it. I always do that. Otherwise if they do not speak it, and you leave them, it is like a little seed that can get picked off and they can then think, wait what did I say, oh I forgot.
When you speak it out of your own mouth, you will hear yourself speak and get that word of God into you. You know years ago I fell down 14 concrete stairs, and hit my head on a concrete floor and suffered a serious head injury. It took me 11 months to recognize anybody and in the first 5 months I had to be feed and I couldn't speak. Can you imagine how hard that was for me not to be able to speak. I had rehabilitation therapy at GF strong for 6 months and tried every treatment and medicine that was available so that took 5 years. My file didn't fit in the doctor's office door it was so thick it fit in a box on my doctor's desk. My doctor said to me we tried everything have you thought about faith. You know I was saved at 7 years old. I said to God I am going to try every medicine and treatment and if I doesn't work and I come to you and you heal me I will tell the world and so 5 years later after trying everything available I said God if you are real, make yourself real to me. One month later I woke up and I felt refreshed, it was the first time in 5 years I was able to get out of bed and have breakfast with my 5 year old son. My son was born during this time because my ex wife was 5 months pregnant at the time. Before that the headaches were continual 24 hours a day, it was debilitating and it was so bad I couldn't get out of bed. So 5 years after the accident, then 1 month after praying with God, then 3 years later, a total of 8 years post injury I still get headaches but the headaches I get now are manageable, before they were unmanageable. When you go through something like that, it can cause you to reject God. I know I was upset and said God what is the matter with you but God brought me to a place where I can stand here before you and minister and say Jesus saves and Jesus heals. I am saying all of this is because people go through things and when we start to recognize that people will go through things we can have compassion for them, because this is when they can reject God. Now I shout Jesus saves and Jesus heals. People will go though things and Jesus will heal. If you have a hard time reading the bible read it out loud. Because you will hear yourself speak and get the word into your spirit.
For with the heart a person believes . . .and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms (his) salvation. The scripture says, No man who believes in him (who adheres to, relies on, and trust in Him) will (ever) be put to shame or be disappointed. For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord (invoking Him as Lord) will be saved.
Preaching was when you call someone's name you get that person that you called. The calling on the name of the Lord, If I call Jesus, Jesus will come, if you call the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit will come. This scripture is meant when people are in desperation and they are calling out the name of the Lord.
Often when you are in a work environment some people may say JESUS when they hurt themselves. They are calling out his name, some might say they are calling out his name in vain. I am not offended by that, I say good for you for calling on the name of the person who will save you. He is my saviour he can be yours too. I encourage you not to be offended when you hear people say this.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither Angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I love how Paul encompasses all of this.
People will go through things in their life and this can be the time when they will reject God. We can have compassion for them and love them and pray for them. You can ask people for forgiveness and they may or may not. You cannot force people to forgive you, because that becomes your decision not their decision. However, unforgiveness hurts them more than you because every time they see you they will feel angry, it is better to forgive and let the anger go.
Some religious people have a tendency to think highly of themselves and they think they are above others. Be careful how we speak and act to others. In honesty we need no wiggle room. Do not behave like Adam who blamed God and the wife God gave him. In this scripture the Pharisees are very well versed in scripture, they knew the scripture so well that a knife could be inserted in the bible and they would know the exact scripture the knife was on. The tax collector was well hated by people in the bible. "The Pharisee did not go to the Temple to pray to God but to announce to all within earshot how good he was. The tax collector went recognizing his sin and begging for mercy. Self-righteousness is dangerous. It leads to pride, causes a person to despise others, and prevents him or her from learning anything from God. The tax collector's prayer should be our prayer because we all need God's mercy every day. Don't let pride in your achievements cut you off from God."
How do we behave behind closed doors when we think no one is looking, forgetting that God is right there. When we behave sinful, then when we do that we drag God into our sin, our stuff. The fact is God knows, He is right there beside us. Sometimes people are more afraid of man than God. How are we afraid more of man than God. How do we behave outside in society. Where are you making the Lord in your life. How much of your time do you do for the Lord, that is the litmus test at how high we esteem him. Jesus is Lord, He is Kingship, He is royalty. It is the goodness of God that leads man to repentance NOT the goodness of man that leads God to forgiveness.
God, I thank you for the opportunity to present the gospel not to force the gospel and guidelines. Not to give rules and regulations but to give them love and the opportunity to know that peace that comes from knowing you. To lead people to Christ through wisdom, knowledge and understanding. I pray that comes upon each person and the truth is, you are the people to hear, the people God chose to spread the word, go out and spread the word that God loves them. Amen!
