The Title of my Sermon came from a revelation from God.
It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance NOT the goodness of man that leads God to forgiveness. I thought this was so cool . . . Right on!
So many people I have met, you know as an evangelist I meet so many people that are unsaved. I meet them and find out about their lives and find out where they are and I try to do what Paul did and that is to equate what they are doing with what the word of God says and how to lead them to Christ. Paul lead everybody to Christ through their belief, and through what they believed then all of a sudden Paul could open the door to Christ, they would then believe in Christ. It is the very key if you ever read through Paul's history and what Paul's writing is you will see all that.
So many people I have met have said I would like to come to church but I feel so dirty, my mind, my thoughts, my ways, my this, my that. I just don't want to come because church, well, they will just reject me. Why do you think that is? Because there is too much religion in church.
The religiosity of Christianity will look upon these people and say "You know you should have been straightened up by now." "Well you know, what are you doing drugs for still. You shouldn't be doing that." When you start hearing and I'm telling you if you hear . . . You should do this, you shouldn't do that, you should do this, you shouldn't do that . . . Rules and regulations. You know what, our job is to be right before God, not right before man. We have to be right before God.
I encourage everyone to listen to God. Here what God says about things that matter, don't make up excuses, let God be your judge and let God be the guide and direction of your life.
One of the things I like to do is read from the word of God because the word of God does more justice than my memory.
First here is a joke that I have:
So one day a group of scientists got together and decided that man had come a long way and they no longer needed God. They picked one scientist to go and tell God that they were done with him. The scientist walked up to God and said God we decided we no longer need you. We are at the point where we can clone people, we can perform miracles and many miraculous things so we really don't need you anymore. God listened patiently and kindly to the scientist and after the man was done talking, God said well, very well how about this. Let's have a man making contest. To which the scientist replied okay great. But God added now we are going to be doing this just like the old days with Adam. The scientist said sure, no problem. The scientist bent down and grabbed a handful of dirt and God said No! No! No! Go make your own dirt start from the beginning with nothing.
My sermon went from Romans road to a scientific mode. I think why, is because it is important to know what people are saying and taking about, and that often we hear, well science has proven the bible right. Well many times science has proven the bible right and I have gotten many illustrations of that. I think it is important to get tools in your belt to be able to preach the word.
This was anticipated to be an evangelist outreach to which I say YOU ARE ALL SAVED. Praise God! Because I declare that the word of God is true. That you have heard the word of God and it is a seed inside of you and you have received that. And those people that have done that are saved. I believe what the word says about that and so it shall be.
But often when we come across people it gets confusing to talk to them because they say oh what about this, what about that, what about this, what about that. Like I said earlier Paul was a master at being able to bring their belief into line with the word of God to bring them together and say here is what you believe and here is what the word of God says.
If you want to believe God is real then ask him "God if you are real, make yourself real to me!"
People who have asked this have usually seen or heard something in a week that will make them believe. Because we are all different, God knows what he needs to show each of us to help us believe in God.
You know I get all excited about football and excited when the team scores a touchdown.
When people come to Christ it is like the excitement of a touchdown!
