“For the joy set before him he endured the cross.”
The word weary in the English means to be spent, to be exhausted, or to lose a sense of pleasure. The old English derived weary from a few words. One of them meant to crumble or break down. The point I would like to make is that if you allow yourself to become weary, you will be tempted to quit. Isaiah40:31 encourages us to wait on the Lord and renew our strength. Renew is the breakthrough, the aerobic. It is you having God breathe back into you your first love and passion to serve Christ. In Ephesians 6:11 Paul encourages us, in light of the reality of spiritual warfare, that we may be able to successfully stand up against all the strategies and deceits of the devil. If we had the idea that this would be easy, we have it wrong. Christianity is not an easy life. It is an empowered life that strengthens you to the breakthrough. It gives you the boost, the second wind to breakthrough in the battle.
In Luke’s gospel the story is very clear that after 40 days and nights without food, the tempter came to Jesus. We need to remember the test never comes when we are fresh. It generally happens when you are tired and vulnerable. It is very important that we do not speak the problem, but we speak the answer. If we ask ourselves, “Why did this happen? I didn’t expect this. This seems overwhelming.” then often we make permanent decisions based on temporary feelings. When we listen to our feelings, we are lost. We need to talk to ourselves with what the scripture says. Let me give you a few:
Psalms 18:35 says you are armed with strength
Philippians 3:14 says I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me.
When you start talking like that and your second wind kicks in, you are now in aerobic. We all get tired. If your dreams were small you never would get tired. Everyone feels tired a times. It means you are doing something. It is important not to look too far down the road. Just take it a day at a time. The word of God promises that you will have strength for the day so pass the test today, relying on God for your strength. The bible encourages us to break forth into singing and joy. Your struggle is coming to an end and there is a new season ofincrease, restoration, and breakthrough for you. Do not settle for where you are. Push passed that wall and into what God has for you. May I encourage you to go beyond weariness and into abundance? Your best days are in front of you.
