Deuteronomy 7:13, 14 (KJV)
“And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.”
As we move into the New Year, let us begin with a solid foundation in knowing that we have been blessed. This blessing will cause us to increase. Find yourself in agreement with God’s word and His assurances. I feel that this will be a significant year for our church. There will be real opportunities presented to us. Blessings provide a way for us, but they also bring to us a greater need of responsibility and thoughtfulness as to the increase that He has promised us.
The natural flow of the kingdom of God is increase. Our hearts need to increase by receiving what God has said. We need to exercise trust and confidence that He will bring it to pass. Let us be prayerful and thoughtful in regards to the coming year. In Job 8:7 God says to His people, “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.” Let us understand our need to our hearts to the increase of God and understand and know that our best days are in front of us.
God’s work in us is not over, it is progressive. In some ways it is just beginning. Job 22:21 also encourages us to acquaint ourselves with God and to be at peace. Good will come to us by acquainting ourselves with God. May I encourage you to take time to wait on God, to pray, and to acquaint yourself with the scriptures. In doing so we will be in position to clearly hear from Him and know what He is doing. I know that if I want to see God in my daily activities, I need to do things God’s way. If we, as a people, will pledge ourselves to hearing from God in this coming year and do things the way God would have them done, I believe that this year will be one of increase. The blessing is already on us. He wants us to put Him in the centre of all that we do, to place in our hearts a priority for His presence to allow Him to speak to us.
In closing, as we ready ourselves for the New Year let us purpose as never before that we will honour Him and acknowledge Him in all our decisions. Let’s trust that He will bring all our hearts together in unity. He will give to us the grace and understanding to look back at the year and say, “It is the best year we ever had.” God bless you and have a blessed new year.
