Luke 16:10 (ESV)
“The one who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and the one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”
Looking after a little leads to looking after much. The thought here in these stewardship verses is “increase”. The same applies for dishonesty. If you let little things slip by you, it can lead to deeper erosion, a more catastrophic end that could be full of pain and loss. Today is the day you need to begin to do what is right not some other day or some other time when it’s more convenient, but right now while you are in the midst of lack and small beginnings. This is the time for you to highly regard the moment you’re in because it will lead to much. It will lead to something big, something you may not be able to see clearly yet, but God has it for you and your future.
The truth is that your tomorrow is in today. Right now in this moment your tomorrow is clearly seen by your faithfulness because if you are faithful in little, you will be faithful in much.
The heart of stewardship is you looking after another’s goods. If what you have is your own, then you own what you have. If what you have is another’s goods, then you should treat it with high regard. You see here the focus is clearly not you, but about God, who owns everything. Therefore our faithfulness is to Him and to all He has for us through His faithfulness.
