Joshua 1:3 (KJV)
"Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that I have given unto you, as I said unto Moses."
In verse 5 a relationship is defined. There are the boundaries of the relationship: I will be with you, I will not fail you, and I will not forsake you. As you can clearly see, it is from God to Joshua. Joshua's response to this was to act in faith to believe that God was good for what He had said. It is my personal opinion that those issues that I have spoken of, going from maintenance to vision and defining God's relationship to us, is critical for our moving into all that He has for us. In versus 6 and 7 we read our response is to the greatness of God and His firm commitment to be with us that we respond with a YES, be strong and of good courage.
Here in Joshua chapter 1 the only ones spoken of are Hittites. It is suspected that the Hittites came from Noah's great grandson Heth, meaning terror. It is associated with terrorism and all that would make a person unduly fearful. Wherever God is endeavouring to do a new thing, He will raise up a new generation to confront the old systems of terrorism in the earth. Today we can see many forms of terrorism. The New Testament says that he has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, power, and sound mind. God never created us to fear. We know we are going into impossible places where God makes all things possible. I truly believe that in the kingdom of God the impossible is where God is and your inheritance is. It is important to understand that nothing in Canaan was small. God is asking us as a people, big things. Nothing that He has prepared for you is small. In front of the children of Israel were walled cities as high as the heavens and grapes the size of grapefruit. God has big things in store so don't try to bring him down to a level where your faith is small. We are anointed to this hour. God wants us to dream big, talk big, and walk big. We are no longer small people with small hearts and small vision. We are to go in and take the land.
