Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
tell by her voice that as much as we all expected it, the pain of his loss had deeply affected her. Jackie attended our church for years. He has seen all sorts of comings and goings yet he remained faithful. Those at Hoy House also remained faithful in their commitment to have Jackie with us. It took a lot of effort, but they went out of their way to do this for a very special person.
For those of you who may be reading this and do not know, Jackie was a special needs individual who loved to be
with us. I particularly enjoyed him and visited him on a number of occasions. The thing I so enjoyed about Jackie was his unconditional love. He loved us all and we needed his love.
Jackie had no great visions about what the church should be or what the church should do. He was just the epitome of Christian love. He shared his love in his own unique and special way. Believe me; we all had need of it. I would come to church at times in need of somebody who was constant in the changing circumstances of my life. Jackie would do that week and after week.
Jackie was truly joyous among us. The gift that he gave to us was of incredible value. I never heard Jackie ever say that
my messages weren’t good enough or the worship wasn’t powerful enough or our faith wasn’t strong enough. Jackie just received us as we are. For him it was just the sure joy of being with us. I would call him pure in heart. He had no motives or agenda. He was just there to be with us.
I celebrate his life because it was a life lived well. He did not complain about his lot, but he was truly happy to be in the
moment. I fully believe that Jackie understood what being a Christian was about because he embraced the whole culture and nature of Christianity. He will truly be missed by me and by many of our people. He was a special gift to us all. His passing leaves us with a hole. I console myself in knowing that he is with the Lord. One day we will meet again and I will see that pure heart again. On behalf of us all I say thanks to God who gave him to us for these past few of years. Let us all remember as we celebrate Christ we need to celebrate each other.
