2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”
To understand faith we need to know that it is not a denial of reality, but an acknowledging of a higher reality: God’s reality. Faith does not say that what is happening is not happening. It is aware of what is not right, but it looks to a higher source for change such as my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory. You see, I can become focused to the lack, have my thoughts captivated by lack, and eventually see lack all around me. Here is the key. Whatever we think over a long period of time, will take root and eventually will manifest the fruit of it. In other words, if I think bad things it won’t take long to attract bad things into my life and become a reality. Job very clearly expressed this in the 3rd chapter and 25th verse “The thing I greatly feared has come upon me and that which I was afraid of is come unto me”. You and I visualize all the time, our minds can actually see what it is that is our predominant thought. If fear is there, I will create structure that will affirm the fear that I have. Let me say it simple and clear; do not invite bad things into your life. Trust God and use that same energy that goes into worry and direct it in trust toward God. He loves you, He will look after you, and He will care for you. In reality I gain a new perspective. I move away from being a victim. I become proactive with my thought life and I do not allow thoughts of negativity to control me.
In conclusion, realize that in all matters, God has the final say and He says it is good. He tells us that we will triumph. When fear knocks always let faith answer the door. I can say to fear, “I am not impressed with you or your thoughts and I am not going to give you a place to be a reality”. You and I need to get rid of the “what ifs” in our lives. God is a God of power and He is great. The scripture tells us that He triumphs over His enemies. I choose to come in agreement with God’s word and I choose to guard my mind.
1 Peter 5:7-8 (AMP)
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
