John 8:32 (NIV)
"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
It is a guarantee if you walk the Christian life that you will have spiritual warfare. That battle is focused to your mind and will challenge any belief systems that you have. It is important to know that God’s word encourages us not to be fearful in this battle for our minds. Wrong beliefs can keep you limited and very possibly defeated. When we agree with God’s word we give ourselves the best possible chances for good outcomes in the spiritual warfare.
The word of God is meant to be in your heart and in your mind and not on a bookshelf. The scripture says you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. That is a powerful description when it says the word will set you free. That’s what God’s word says, it’s not on a shelf it is in your heart and mind. The more we give ourselves to that the better our experiences will be as a believing Christian.
When people struggle in fear and bondage because they are not aware of God’s truth and God’s word, it brings sadness. People can become a custom to limitations and thought-bondage. Over time if the prevailing thoughts of your mind become more fearful and anxious those thoughts can weight down on your mind and take from you the freedom that God has promised.
The normal Christian experience should be the constant renewing of our minds where we displace and replace the wrong belief systems with the right belief systems and our thinking is based on the word of God. When we stand believing the truth of God’s word it becomes so real and close to us. Grace, favor, and blessings are at hand as we are confident in what God has said. We access the truth of God’s word about what Jesus did through the cross and every benefit of that finished work, that Jesus purchased, becomes real and powerful to us. The price is paid and wrong beliefs are being torn down. There is spiritual warfare because the truth that you know and believe is the inherent power to break you through to God’s freedom.
In conclusion, Satan knows that if he can control your thought life he can manipulate your emotions and feelings. Those things can lead to sustain guilt, failure, and fear. Know that Satan is the accuser of the brethren, however, Jesus stands as our high priest and is interceding on our behalf. So when those wrong thoughts come to you then establish yourself in the truth of God's word. God has designed his word in such a way that it gives us quick recognition of wrong thinking. Therefore, when those thoughts come always ask yourself “why am I thinking this way?” and then turn your heart towards the truth of God’s word. It will set you free!
